Nude Photo Exhibition First Banned And Then Opened

“Female Beauty 2016 – Nude in the public space” – is the name of Mathilde Grafström’s controversial photo exhibition, with pictures that shows how beautiful ordinary women are, when they let go of their negative perceptions of themselves. The exhibition were shown in Copenhagen from July the 25th- 1st of September 2016.

At first, the danish police banned the exhibition, they claimed it was pornographic, but a great debate in the national and international media obviously changed the police’s mind – suddenly there there was green light everywhere.

The exhibition was shown in the centre of Copenhagen, at Nytorv square where the Danish minister of culture opened the exhibition with a speach.

In 1967 Denmark was the first country in the world to legitimize pornography when pornographic literature was legalized. In 1969, Denmark became the first nation in the world to legalize pictorial and audiovisual pornography.
